Swaleha - Currently working on my MFA at UC Berkeley
Swaleha صالحہ is a Punjabi-Pakistani-American new-media artist whose work delves into the moments that reveal the essence of our existence as individuals in relation to the world. Her work explores themes of transformation, womanhood, memory, gender, and possibility through time and space with a focus on the experiences of Muslim women in the West in a postmodern world.
Swaleha has curated and shown work across the west coast. She is also the co-founder of Dou Number Club, a collective dedicated to creating space for Muslim artists, and runs Bhains Shop, an art shop she started with her sister. She holds degrees in Human-Computer Interaction and Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from the University of Washington and is currently in her second and final year of the UC Berkeley Art Practice MFA program.
